i used to work for b.t so don't tell me what i know thanks, unbundling takes ur line from a b.t dsl access multiplexer and plugs it into 1 owned by your isp, its still the same line owned by b.t, the dslam sits in a building owned by b.t (the exchange) and the machines are even bought/rented from b.t, it is cheaper for isp's to route ur line thru their own dslam but rent is still paid, monopoly commission says there has to be competition in the retail market not wholesale * +

even virgins lines once belonged to b.t, they started laying them before adsl came about, when adsl did come about it worked out a whole lot cheaper cz it was compatible with the copper lines already in the network, fibre optic network was sold off and b.t found a cheap way to rinse the archaic network for another 10-15years *
