I have a Dell latitude laptop, its an old model and only has Usb 1 ports. I have a Pc card (Pcmcia) with Usb 2 ports. The card installs by windows but it doesnt recognise any Usb device I put in. The card is new. Anyone help with this problem? Appreciate it. * +

So you have installed the drivers that come with the card? Does it say it is compatible with your OS? * +

I installed 4 different drivers. Windows installs one itself also. It recognizes the card but not any Usb device? * +

have you got a flashdrive that lights up when its being used? if so try that in it and see if it lights up if it dont it could be there is no power going to the port, windows could be instaling the card but may not be supplying any power to the usb ports.. I know im wrong here but it sounds like it to me, thats why nothing is being recognised when there plugged in. * +

ive never had to deal with pcmcia cards, so i could be wrong. but sounds to me like the card is usb 2.0 and the laptop cant handle it? if not id definately say its a power issue. based on what you said about the age of the laptop. * +

Thanks. Im thinking maybe the laptop cant handle it idk its an old model. I have Wifi in the PC card slot and that is no issue. I will check online. I was thinking updating BIOS on the Dell site but I dont want to kill the laptop as I dont know enough about computers. * +

Maybe there is a Usb2 device to plug into a Usb1 port? I have a Usb digital Tv stick and I cant use it with Usb1. I use my phone as modem to laptop so I cant watch Tv online, the download speed is too slow, only around 100kb. * +
