if you think about it logically the brand is only connected to the standard of after sales support. just as an example ninety nine percent of a sony vaio laptop is not made by sony themselves infact on most models sony just make the screen with even the dvd drive being made by someone else. * +

intel may make the processor, gigabyte the motherboard, amd the graphics and toshiba often the opitical drive. which manufacturer offers the best support is a matter of arguement because everyone has different experiances with different companies. * +

where laptops are concerned one thing that is never mentioned in product reviews is the make and model of motherboard which can make a difference in performance between machines just as it can with desktops. * +

while its true in the majority of cases you get what you pay for it doesnt apply in every case. for instance you will pay more for sony than most others and get a lesser spec yet according to statistics they are no more reliable than any other machine which again comes back to same scenario the brand dont make most of the components! * +

therefore the name doesnt carry a lot of weight! same goes for desktops. * +

statistics show that asus and toshiba have less reported faults if you believe statistics? overall figures can be misleading so the answer isnt as straightforward as one might think. the most important thing is to make sure your getting the latest tech for your money, just cos one laptop is more expensive doesnt allways mean it has more advanced components. * +

what you need to watch is a lot of shops are still selling first generation intel core laptops, make sure its sandy bridge. also be aware that ivy bridge laptops will be here very soon. so if your going intel which is wise go for sandy bridge or wait for ivy bridge. first generation intel core laptops wont save you much money, if any at all. *
