i got an external hard drive which was connected to my computer...then suddenly my computer died and i bought a new computer ..when i connected my external hard drive to the new computer.i get access denied error..i went to the propertes and and then security and changed the owner ship to my account and granted full access to my account.i can access most of the folder and files except one folder...i can manually go in the folder and and open individual file and grant my self access..but if i do *

but if i do that it will take me week because there are so many files in that folder to manually grant access to each one of them *

what you are looking for is a registry patch called take ownership. i used that in the past and it helped me many times. i don't know where i download it from though, you're gonna have to do a little search. *
