Cant beat SSDs now. Can get 256gb samsung 830s for like 125 quid. Easily one of the best upgrades you can buy. Impacts everyday performance, but also for games that stream and load and such it is brilliant. * +

really now, before windows 7, xp was the best ms o/s, it may be outdated but is certainly not cr*p. for the ssd price, they are still THAT expensive here. and thats crucial 32GB and verbatim, intel is even more. * +

i don't see any benefit of running 7 over xp either. with that, xp takes less space and comes with less inbuilt features giving a lot of room for customization. * +

nowt wrong with xp, works fine for what i need it for so why bother 'upgrading'? best way to reduce drive noise is to defrag with udefrag, order the drive so most frequently used data is on the outside then the drive arm wont have to swing about so much *
