Has anyone else had a problem with audio stuttering on a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop. It's running Vista. The stuttering happens randomly by doing a slight pause about every 20 seconds when audio is playing. I've Googled the problem and read the thread on the Dell support website. As suggested, I tried disabling something in the MS config startup list called Intel Matrix Storage Event Monitor but that didn't do anything to solve the problem. Any ideas? * +

@curtlink. What sort of advice is that. Why would I upgrade to another OS when the problem could be solved by other means. * +

its because the machine is too slow to keep up with the audio stream * +

How can the machine be too slow when this didn't use to happen? I've read the long thread on the Dell support forum and most suggestions say either roll back the Intel SATA AHCI Controller in Device Manager or disable Intel Matrix Storage Event Monitor. None of that works though, as the roll back button is greyed out for a start. * +
