oh ffs, if you want speed on old hardware ditch Windoze. I have no idea why people with netbooks use Windoze. All they really do is browse and watch video because netbooks have next to no power for gaming. Puppy Linux should be on your netbook. It blows Windoze away in terms of speed * +

good distros of Linux work with everything. Never had trouble with Linux setting up drivers and recognizing my hardware, ever. Also GNU/Linux desktops are highly customizable so you can familiarize it and make it all your own, theres an immense amount of choice on that with Linux. Also theres lots of software and the OS's and kernel are upkept and updated all the time. On ultra low end hardware it seems like a no brainer * +

Try webroot internet security. Thats what i use. Its lightweight(less than 5mb) and super fast in scanning for malware,spyware n trojans *
