How can one bypass the administrator password on a windows installation? I suspect the installation or HD may be damaged and wanna try a repair via repair console,bt it seems the HD's previous owner had an admin password installed?? Any way to bypass? I have tried just entering at prompt but does not work?? * +

Ask the previous owner for the password. Or format and reinstall Windows. * +

the previous owner is my dad,and he doesn't remember the pw. we have tried all the ones he knew with no luck.....I'm aware of format and re-install bt don't wanna go that route except as a last resort,as there are important files on the HD we would like to recover first??? * +
