It sounds like somebody seized root on your PC. In other words, you have an evil virus that allowed somebody to own your computer. And guess what, formatting the hard drive will not help one bit. The good news is that many antivirus companies and Microsoft offer free malicious tool removal kits. * +

Of course that is assuming that nobody has access to your PC and that you surf the web and check email with your administrator account. And that your password is one of the top ten easily guessed passwords. If you have been playing around with computer management, you got what you deserved. * +

@mok214
what exactly do you mean with
''And guess what, formatting the hard drive will not help one bit.'' ???
Formatting will ERASE everything from HDD, including viruses, ttrojans, worms, malware, spyware, rootkits...(smoke) * +

Not a a worm or root kit, they can hide in the BIOS flash memory where a hard disk drive format cannot touch. You are now the n00B of the Year. (winner) * +

Not to mention, a format cannot touch the root sector of your HDD, thus that is where the root kit derives its name. * +

A virus that affects the BIOS is very rare, and why did you mention it but not that anti virus will be useless if you have one? AV wont touch a BIOS. * +
