I had once bought a fake laptop. I did not know it was fake when I was buying it. It was brand new from the computer shop, with one year warranty. I used it for one year two months, some keys from the keybord stopped working as days goes by, the dvd drive stopped detecting dvds, it keeps hanging everytime even after formatting and installing latest antivirus version!The warrant had expired. I dont think this laptop was genuine...TO THE COMPUTER EXPERTS, HOW CAN ONE KNOW A GENUINE LAPTON WHEN YOU * +

A fake laptop is usually used in display windows and do not function. What you had was a cr*ppy cheap laptop, possibly a counterfeit. What I recommend is only buying laptops from reputable vendors.

What brand is it? Just check for security hologram under laptop. Register the serial no. on the official site. If the serial is fake it wont be registered.
PS: i don't think any legit retailer would sell fake, but only if you buy from flea market or go shopping in mainland China. * +
