your cousins pentium 3 will be ok for basic browsing, just. but you may find it better to avoid chrome because according to many sources the chrome browser eats or more ram than other mainstream browers like firefox. (it also takes longer to hand the system ram back to the computer in tests) I have found Opera is particularly good on older machines cos its more lightweight.. Chrome is not the lightweight browser it used to be, despite many may think. * +

also, if you are low on ram windows will start to use the hard drive more which is a typical cause of old machines slowing to a crawl. So if you have any programs you dont use that often it maybe wise to consider uninstalling them. Also check what programs are automacilly launching startup by typing in msconfig in the run box on windows xp, here you can disable anything you dont require to launch upon start up, maybe like MSN messenger for example. It all helps to speed things up * +
