The option does appear to have disappeared, possibly the only way to do it would be to go to 'my stuff/account' and deactivate your account, then sign up again quickly before someone grabs your username. NOTE: I'm not recommending this as I don't know how it'd work out, but it may now be the only way if it's really important that you delete it. *
