A cop once said to me that as long as there's no evidence or you can prove it was in self defence and not premeditated, it was cool, like shooting them with a gun you got a license for and they got a weapon on them that your life was in danger and you were close enough to them for your life to be at danger, that you couldn't run or hide from their weapon, but a rifle is classed as premeditated.
