What she said might be true (never tried) but as pointed out by some folks earlier, its just dumb. A free call to the carrier's automated call center (ex: 345 for Telenor) can be made and then pics can be taken without the shutter making any sound. But this is a lenghty process and often the calls are not connected the first time we dial, cuz of bad service. So a much better way is to set the phone on silent.
