the media sold you onto paganism! It’s about deity worship worship of the sun, like the Egyptians who worshipped ra the sun god, paganism is what was practiced by the ones that run the show, the powers that be, the ones above royalty, although royalty are part of the blood linepaganism is a broad term you should learn where it all came from. animism and most of it was never religious. the later ones might have had religious rules, but most did not. you think of only a small group. animism is 100k years old. your egyptians were not even there. they hardly were in the shamanism era if not mistaken.
