So you think there's hope for LGBT-Muslims? Definitely. There is still much work to do, but things are changing. A while ago, a Dutch imam Hashim Jansen came out because he heard about me and other imams coming out. More and more gay imams are coming out, and we have an increasingly number of straight allies.A few years ago South Africa internationally took a stand against the active discrimination perpetrated towards the LGBT community globally by getting the UN to hold a welcome discussion between all the member countries. As the matter was discussed in front of the UN, many African and Islamic countries stormed out and condemning the issue from ever being brought up again.
