Subject: child marriage on the rise
----------
Child marriage is currently legal in 38 US states(only Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont have set the minimum age at 18 and eliminated all exceptions), and 20 states do not require any minimum age for marriage, with only parental consent or judicial approval needed.
Nearly 300,000 children were married in the U.S. between 2000 and 2018. The vast majority were girls from deeply religious, white, christian families/communities being wed to adult men, often much older than the girls involved.
Then there is the preceding CSA that occurs in a high proportion of child marriages, were children are forced(by their parents) to marry their rapists/abusers, so as not to bring shame on their family(which also means that their abusers go unpunished(dislike))
There is new hope for victims of such abuses though, even in historic cases [link]such as this one:https://youtu.be/vlvotMoYbzA?si=RhgM9Aa-QomkMYcL[/link].
