LG KU800: 3G Chocolate

The LG KU800 is a 3G version of the LG ''Chocolate'' KG800 phone, which should be available from Vodafone (pictured) and some other operators by Christmas 2006.
The display has been upgraded to 240x320 pixels, but bizarrely the colour depth appears to have dropped from 262,000 colours to 65,000. and it appears to have a 1.3 megapixel camera (although Vodafone issued a press release saying that it was 2 megapixels, so check before ordering). Internal memory is 60Mb and this is expandable using microSD/TransFlash cards. AT 98 grams, the KU800 is 14 grams heavier than the KG800, but remember that the LG KU800 is a 3G phone and anything less than 100 grams can be considered lightweight. (Note - LG has handset data here and Vodafone Germany has details here).
It's a great looking phone, and of course the original LG Chocolate was one of the most attractive phones of 2006. The most serious flaw with the Chocolate was the way that the heat-sensitive keys were just TOO sensitive and would activate accidentally. We don't know if LG have fixed this in the KU800, but our advice would be to back up your address book to a PC on a regular basis! Still, if you have a handset that looks this good, who needs friends?
Vodafone say that the KU800 should be available by Christmas 2006, with no word from other retailers as yet.
